The island route

Come and discover the barrier islands of the Ria Formosa Nature Reserve that protect its unique and ever-changing lagoon system from the open sea. In front of Olhão, the shapes of the islands shift before our eyes under the influence of the tides, currents and winds. The boat captain helps you understand the fauna, flora and geography of the lagoon and the region.

The trip begins at the bar and extends as far as the lighthouse on Cape Santa Maria. The sea air braces for the lunch that follows in the fishing village of Culatra and the chance to try fresh fish in a traditional restaurant or picnic along the beach.

You continue your voyages as far as Armona Island where another short stop may provide a chance for meeting a chameleon. On the return to Olhão, we pass by the fishing port, where you may take a stroll.

Boat trip, 4 hours, departing from Olhão and stopping for lunch in Culatra and on the beach, from €20 per person (not including lunch). Itinerary: Olhão – the Lighthouse - Deserta Island - Culatra Island - Armona Island – Olhão.
